2024 fall debris

City of Geneva Property Owners and Residents

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

FALL 2024 YARD DEBRIS & LEAF PICK UP SCHEDULE

The City of Geneva’s fall collection and removal of bagged yard debris begins on Monday, October 21st and ends Friday, December 6th.
After December 5, collection will be weather permitting with no set schedule.
Please place leaves and yard debris between the sidewalk and behind the curb for city removal. Please do not block storm drainage units.    Please place all leaves and other suitable debris in paper bags. No plastic bags are allowed.  The city will provide a limited amount of paper leaf bags, at the Clerk’s office, located on the first floor of City Hall, 47 Castle Street.  Leaf bag pickup will be available during normal business hours Monday – Friday 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Please prepare brush and branch debris to be no longer than 4 feet and not more than 6 inches in diameter. Consolidating small piles of leaves into larger piles will help expedite leaf pick up. Please do not store debris behind guiderail or in drainage ditches.
Crews will not remove debris from private property, near parked cars or in plastic bags.  No construction debris, lumber, plastic, garbage, glass, furniture, bedding, tires, stumps, rocks, metal or other bulk waste items will be picked up.  Please consider recycling and coordinate with your trash hauler for these items.
You are encouraged to bring all yard debris to the Resource Recovery Park at 41 Doran Avenue on Wednesday 7:30AM - 3:00PM & Saturday 8:00AM - 12:00PM where a limited amount of FREE MULCH will be available to residents.
Additional hours may be posted based on weather conditions.
Please contact Public Works office at 315-789-3101 if you have any questions.

neighbors together event

Neighbors Together – Care, Create and Celebrate

The City of Geneva’s Local Development Corporation (LDC) invites all interested residents to a gathering - Monday November 18, 6:30-8:00pm to be held at the Bozzuto Center for Entrepreneurship, 22 Castle Street.

Mingling and refreshments will begin at 6:30pm, then a warm welcome and brief presentation will begin at 6:45pm. Neighbors then meet in small groups brainstorming ideas for fun, family-friendly events to be held in their neighborhood, sometime in 2025.

Previous successful neighborhood events include: Pumpkin Roll, Musical Porches, garden walks, public pocket park clean-ups and potluck picnics, trunk treasures sale and swap, food truck rodeos, bike rodeos, basketball or pickleball events, plant swaps, parades, holiday decorating contests, historic re-enactment, play readings or concerts in the park, spring and fall cleanup and planting in the park.

Many neighbors, young and old, are excited to begin to plan neighborhood events and celebrations to be held in 2025. The LDC will host a year-end celebration event to recognize neighborhood event volunteers and highlight the variety of fun, family-friendly, successful events held in the City of Geneva in 2025.

All interested residents are welcome. Please attend with your creative ideas and enthusiasm, and bring a new neighbor or two with you.
