Quarterly City Owned Property Offer Review

In 2024 the City of Geneva adopted a policy for the periodic review of property owned by the City and for review of offers to purchase that property for private use. As a part of that process the City reviews offers received once a quarter. Criteria for review of those offers is defined in the policy and includes looking both at the purchase price, the taxes that would be generated by the property following the sale, goals of the City as defined in the Comprehensive Plan, and the potential costs of the transfer and cost avoided by no longer owning the property.

Offers may be made on any City owned property but the current list of parcels that the City has identified as appropriate for sale is below. The 2025 First Quarter review is scheduled for Monday Feb. 3rd, any offers received on or after Feb. 3 will be reviewed in the 2nd quarter on April 4th. The City reserves the right to decline an offer for any reason if it is deemed to not be in the best interest of the future of the City.

Neighbors Together!

The City of Geneva’s Local Development Corporation (LDC) invites all interested residents to a gathering - Wednesday, February 12th, 6:45pm-8:00pm to be held at the Bozzuto Center for Entrepreneurship, 22 Castle Street.

Mingling and refreshments will begin at 6:45pm, then a warm welcome and brief presentation will begin at 7pm. Neighbors then meet in small groups brainstorming ideas for fun, family-friendly events to be held in their neighborhood, sometime in 2025.

Previous successful neighborhood events include: Pumpkin Roll, Musical Porches, garden walks, public pocket park clean-ups and potluck picnics, trunk treasures sale and swap, food truck rodeos, bike rodeos, basketball or pickleball events, plant swaps, parades, holiday decorating contests, historic re-enactment, play readings or concerts in the park, spring and fall cleanup and planting in the park.

Many neighbors, young and old, are excited to begin to plan neighborhood events and celebrations to be held in 2025. The LDC will host a year-end celebration event to recognize neighborhood event volunteers and highlight the variety of fun, family-friendly, successful events held in the City of Geneva in 2025.

All interested residents are welcome. Please attend with your creative ideas and enthusiasm, and bring a new neighbor or two with you!
