ATTENTION CITY OF GENEVA PROPERTY OWNERS AND RESIDENTS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS 2025 SPRING YARD DEBRIS COLLECTION PROGRAM:

The City of Geneva will begin spring yard debris pick up on Monday, April 7th and end on Friday, June 27th (weather permitting)

Property owners and residents may place leaves and yard debris between the sidewalk and curb for DPW removal.   

Please place all leaves, grass clippings, weeds and small brush debris in paper bags.  Plastic bags will not be picked up.  If interested, the City of Geneva will provide a limited amount of paper lawn/leaf bags which can be picked up at the City Clerk’s office located on the first floor of City Hall, 47 Castle Street during normal operating hours.

Loose brush, branch and limb debris must be no longer than 4 feet and not more than 6 inches in diameter. Consolidating small piles of debris into larger piles will help expedite pick up.  

DPW will start our final pass through the City on June 16, 2025.

Please note we will not collect debris on private property, near parked cars, or in plastic bags.  No plastic, stumps, rocks, stone, construction debris, lumber, garbage, glass, furniture, rugs, bedding, tires, etc. will be picked up.  Please consider recycling and coordinate with your trash hauler for these items. 

RESOURCE RECOVERY PARK

Resource Recovery Park is located at 

45 Doran Ave

General Rules:

Open Thursdays 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and Saturdays 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. An attendant will be on site during these times.

For Geneva City and Town residents recycling and disposing of their residential materials. Not for commercial or business generated items.

Trash Compactor:  

Trash will be counted by the 30-gallon bag and must be in sealed bags that you can toss into the compactor. (2 bags allowed per punch on the card $75 card has 52 punch spots ) Household trash for this compactor includes Styrofoam, napkins and paper towels, wrappers and packets, plastic wrap and utensils, dirty paper cups and plates, flat glass, ceramics, and aerosol cans. Do not use the trash compactor for leaves and other yard waste, furniture, building materials, appliances, or hazardous waste like oil-based paint, electronic equipment, batteries, fluorescent bulbs (tube and compact), or medicines.

Co-Mingled Recycling Bin:  

You may toss empty and clean glass bottles, milk containers, and jars of any color; aluminum and tin cans and foil; plastic containers #1 - #7; ( identified by chasing arrows symbol with only #1 thru #7 on them) corrugated and cardboard paper boxes (broken down); office paper, junk mail, magazines, envelopes, and newspapers (unlimited recycling with the $20 permit)

Metal Bin:

You may toss scrap metal into this container and items made primarily of metal like steel, iron, copper, and aluminum. Not for plastics,  large appliances or items containing freon or hazardous materials.

Food Waste:

Dump your food waste in this container, including fruits, vegetables, bones, meat, and dairy, coffee grinds, egg shells, and shredded paper. 

Yard Debris Piles:

The City of Geneva will provide a limited amount of paper lawn/leaf bags which can be picked up at the City Clerk’s office located on the first floor of City Hall, 47 Castle Street during normal operating hours.

Dump un-bagged or paper bagged leaves, shrub pruning’s, and branches (no greater than 4 feet long and 6 inches in diameter) on the appropriate pile.  NO Plastic is allowed.  

Items NOT accepted include:

Construction and Demolition (C&D) - C&D is a type of waste that is not included in municipal solid waste (MSW). Materials included in C&D debris are steel, wood and wood products, drywall and plaster, brick and clay tile, asphalt shingles, bricks, concrete, asphalt, plumbing fixtures, non-asbestos insulation, empty buckets.

*Bulk trash, plastics, stumps, rocks, stone, construction debris, lumber,  furniture, rugs, bedding, tires.    

Reminder that Ontario County holds multiple household and hazardous waste disposal events during the year; Please check www.ontariocountyrecycles.org

NYSDOT has recently received inquiries regarding the cameras being setup by the Department’s traffic count contractor. In response to recent questions, please click the links below for information and FAQ sheet.

Cameras should have a label with the name “NDS” (National Data Services) on them and should look like the picture below. There has been an increase in the utilization of these cameras as they are a great alternative to tube setups and offer many benefits, including being safer to install and for the traveling public, lower cost, improved data accuracy, and less interference with snow and ice operations.

The Local Development Corporation currently has two vacancies to be filled. 

The LDC is looking for:

  • Two applicants employed by a local financial institution: one with experience in construction lending and one with experience in community lending.
    • Preference will be given to financial institutions located within the City of Geneva. Institutions outside the City must demonstrate an ongoing and renewed commitment to Geneva.
