You may also consider donating your piece to local agencies who may provide a receipt for your tax deductible donation.

Lead-acid batteries are used by cars, trucks, recreational vehicles and boats and it is illegal to throw these batteries in the trash. Your battery is returnable, free of charge, to any retailer or distributor of lead-acid batteries. Contact your repair/maintenance garage regarding their battery return policy.

Plastic bags should not be placed in your recycling bin. Plastic bags and films cause a huge problem in recycling centers. Bring your plastic bags and films to the appropriate locations in Geneva for recycling.

Heavy metals in televisions shield the cathode ray tubes that make up the screen. Liquid crystal displays do not have cathode ray tubes, but they contain mercury, a hazardous toxin. Keep these toxins out of the environment by disposing of your television responsibly. The Salvation Army is currently accepting televisions at no charge.

Bring your tires for recycling to any Geneva tire retailer. If you haven’t purchased your tires from that retailer, there may be a small fee. Tires may be shredded and turned into products including synthetic turf, playground surfaces and road embankments.

The City of Geneva manages a yard debris pick-up program twice each year. You may also bring your yard debris to the City's Resource Recovery Park at 41 Doran Avenue at the hours listed below. 

Residents may place yard debris between the sidewalk and curb for City removal. Please place all leaves and other suitable debris in paper bags. Properties with bagged leaves will be serviced first, whenever operationally possible. Please note we will not collect debris on private property, near parked cars, or in plastic bags. Debris must be no longer than 4 feet and not more than 6 inches in diameter. No construction debris, wood, plastic, garbage, glass, furniture, etc.

The City of Geneva will provide a limited amount of leaf bags. Bags can be picked up at City Hall during normal operating hours. Please be advised that residents are encouraged to bring debris to the Resource Recovery Park.

The Resource Recovery Park is open Wednesday 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM and Saturday 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
